The Deputy Premier has appointed David Trigg to the position of Deputy Minister of Vaccination & Health in her Department.
The Deputy Premier is responsible for the departmental portfolio of Vaccinations, Health & Wellbeing, and a number of other key portfolios including Health, Education & Skills, Communications & Media, Indigenous Affairs, and Community Development.
In his announcement, Premier Daniel Andrews said Trigg was appointed to the role after the appointment was made by Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development, Greg Hunt.
Mr Trigg will take up the role immediately and will be responsible for overseeing the department’s immunisation portfolio, including the Immunisation Advisory Council, which will report to the Premier on the latest research and vaccine information.
It is hoped that Mr Trigg’s appointment will ensure that the Minister for Health has a strong role in the development and implementation of Australia’s immunisations programme.
The position will come into effect on July 1, 2018.
